Following the incredible success of The Gynaecological Cancer Fund's first Lady Garden 5k in 2016 we are thrilled to announce that there will be a second Lady Garden Fun Run in 2017! Watch this space for the date, we will be calling for supporters all over the country to get involved and raise funds and awareness for gynaecological cancers.
The run will take place in London’s Hyde Park, and will be a fun-filled event supported by D&D, TOTM and Blackscore. The event will see 500 runners complete a 5k within the park and just like last year we will be providing a morning of entertainment for family and friends. Registration will open soon, it is not a requirement to run but we hope either way you will try raise funds for vital research into gynaecological cancers.
Lady Garden Network launches, with a 5k Fun Run in Battersea Park
Following the success of the Lady Garden Campaign in 2015, the Gynaecological Cancer Fund is excited to announce the first-ever Lady Garden Fun Run on the 23rd April 2016. The 5k event is being launched by the Lady Garden Network, the fundraising arm of the charity, which is calling for women all over the country to get involved and raise funds and awareness for gynaecological cancers, commonly known as the silent killers.
The run will be taking place in London’s vibrant Battersea Park, and will be a fun filled event supported by local sponsors KX Kitchen, Kelly Hoppen Interiors and LOMAX.
The run will see 250 female runners complete a 5k within the park. Before the run participants will receive a complementary warm up from the LOMAX personal trainers. We are also inviting family and friends of the runners to come to the event for a morning of fun, including some very special children’s entertainment.
We hope you will support this event by British home grown, inspirational female charity the Gynaecological Cancer Fund to make these cancers SILENT NO MORE.
The Gynaecological Cancer Fund is a newly established charity with a mission to raise funds in support of The Royal Marsden hospital and Dr Susana Banerjee, a leading oncologist, in her groundbreaking work into precision therapies. This involves a personalised approach to gynaecological cancer treatment, which looks at an individual’s DNA in order to tailor drugs to the patient, rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.
Each member of our Committee has lost a mother, sister or friend to gynaecological or breast cancer. We are all deeply committed to raising £250,000 a year for three years to help fund Dr Banerjee’s clinical research trials (£750,000 in total). We are also committed to raising additional funds for the awareness campaign to help people understand more about gynaecological cancers and their symptoms.
